Vlad the Impaler is reimagined through Gothic horror in this original Vantage3DLab sculpture. The stern expression, blood-red eyes and high burgundy collar give the portrait an ominous presence, while the elaborate headdress, flowing hair and richly worked mantle retain the formality of a ceremonial bust. This is a dark-fantasy interpretation of the subject, rather than an attempt at a strictly historical portrait.

An antique bronze-effect finish brings warmth to the raised detail, with darker recesses giving depth to the face, curls and heavy texture of the mantle. Burgundy and red accents are used selectively across the clothing, eyes and jewel-like ornaments, drawing attention to the expression and bat-shaped chest decoration without overwhelming the metallic finish.

The base continues the Gothic setting rather than serving as a plain pedestal. Pointed arches and a chapel-like doorway extend the architectural detail around the sculpture, while skulls, sculpted candles with flowing wax, bats and web-like decoration frame a sinister pumpkin at the front. The side and rear views reveal further detail in the architecture, hair and mantle, making the piece rewarding to view beyond its imposing frontal portrait.

Designed, 3D printed in PLA and hand-finished in the Vantage3DLab studio, the sculpture is internally weighted to a finished 2.5 kg. Its bronze-effect surface is a decorative finish over the printed form.
